Conference on Access to Justice through Virtual Courts held
Former Judges discussed efficacy of justice delivery through virtual courts
Jammu: Forum for Human Rights and Social Justice, J & K (Regd.), today organized a virtual conference on the theme “Access to Justice through Virtual Courts : Opportunities and Impediments”. The conference was participated by Justice (Retd.) S.M. Soni, former judge Gujarat High Court and former Lokayukta Gujarat State and Justice (Retd.) Pramod Kohli, former Chief Justice, Sikkim High Court. Many reputed lawyers of the state and other parts of the country also participated in the conference.
The key speakers of the conference were Advocate Sunil Sethi, Advocate Monika Kohli, Advocate Pranav kohli and Advocate Abhinav Sharma, President JKHCBA. The speakers discussed and shared their experiences of the virtual courts being held in place of conventional open courts in view of COVID-19 pandemic. The speakers also interacted with the participants and had threadbare discussion on experiences of advocates belonging to different states of the country and also problems faced by the advocates and litigants while appearing through virtual courts.
During the event Lawyers from Jammu expressed their concern of poor connectivity due to non availability of 4G Internet Connectivity and inadequate I.T infrastructure to cope up with the requirement to have clear lively interaction with judges.
The speakers held a threadbare discussion and agreed that e courts can be a possible alternative instead of conventional courts as it saves precious time and resources of clients, advocates and courts.
The conference was moderated by Deepak Sharma, Advocate J&K High Court.
