CRPF celebrated Shaurya Diwas with full Zeal and fervor
Shaurya Diwas was celebrated on 09/04/2022 at Group Center CRPF Jammu. On this occasion, the Chief Guest Shri PS Ranpise, IPS, IG, Jammu Sector visited Quarter Guard and taken the saluted by the ceremonial guard. After this, a special entry was made by the Chief Guest in the visitor’s book of the Quarter Guard . Medal decoration ceremony was organized on the occasion of gallantry day. First of all, Shri Bhanu Pratap Singh, DIG, Group Center, CRPF Jammu welcomed the chief guest by giving a bouquet. Further Shri Prem Chandra Gupta Commandant GC CRPF Jammu was delivered welcome addressed.
Beside, as per the direction of the Directorate General, Shri Naresh Kumar Yadav, DIG, CRPF J&K Zone, Jammu was presented by President’s Police Medal for Distinguished service and Inspector/GD Surjit Singh- 72 Battalion, Sub Inspector/GD Pratap Singh-187 Battalion and Sub Inspector/GD. Joginder Sharma-166 Battalion was decorated with Police Medal for Meritorious Service by the chief guest in which Shri Bhanu Pratap Singh, DIG, GC CRPF, Jammu also assisted in the medal decoration. Thereafter, Shri PS Ranpise, IG, Jammu Sector congratulated the officers/subordinate officers and personnel present in the function on the occasion of Shaurya Diwas and delivered a speech of Shaurya. He said that on 09 April 1965 in the “Run of Kutch” in Gujarat, Pakistan had launched an operation ‘Desert Hawk’ to capture a large area. Under this, the Infantry Brigade of Pakistan attacked the “Sardar” and “Talk Post” of the companies of 2nd Battalion of CRPF. The companies of CRPF thwarted this attack by relentlessly fighting it. This was a unique act in the history of the country in which a small contingent of paramilitary force thwarted the planned attack of such a large brigade. Every year 09 April is celebrated as Shaurya Diwas for the indomitable courage, work-skill and valour displayed by the brave soldiers of CRPF. At the end of the program, Shri Bhanu Pratap Singh, DIG GC CRPF Jammu honored to the chief guest by presenting a memento. In this program Shri P.S. Ranpise, IG Jammu Sector and Shri Bhanu Pratap Singh, DIG, GC CRPF Jammu and other Gazetted Officers, Subordinate Officers and Jawans and other personnel of all CRPF institutions established in the campus were present. After this the chief guest and all the senior officers present took refreshments along with the soldiers.
On this special occasion, Essay and Painting Competition was organized by Group Center Jammu among the children of Kendriya Vidyalaya Bantalab and the winners of the competition were awarded with prizes. Apart from this, cricket matches were organized, along with cultural associations and Badakhana were also organized in all the messes of the camp premises.
This occasion celebrated in all Jammu based units and establishments of CRPF as Shaurya Diwas.
