UDHAMPUR, SUN, 4: Jasvir Singh DDC Councillor Panchari – Moungri, Jeevan Sharma BDC Chairperson Panchari, Ashok Kumar, KAS Additional District Development Commissioner Udhampur along with the Salil Kumar Gupta Chief Horticulture Officer Udhampur yesterday kick started the ultra-high-density apple plantation drive here at horticulture zone panchari area of district Udhampur.
Ultra high-density apple plantation scheme aims to achieve the enhanced apple production and the scheme has been launched as a part of Government efforts to double the income of the farmers.
Revti Raman Sharma District Level-SMS (Plant Pathology), Puvinder Gupta Horticulture Development Officer Panchari, Sanjeev Singh, Kamal Singh, Koushliya Devi, Horticulture technician of the Horticulture Department, Angrez Singh Social Activist, Retired Lecturer Shiv Dass, Retired Head Master Hem Raj, Lecturer Jugal Verma, Kailash Nath, Surinder Singh, Joginder Paul, Khajur Singh Naib Sarpanch, Panch Ajay Sharma, Orchardist Ompal Singh Sambyal, Neelam Devi Panch, Shamsher Singh Panch, Dalbir Singh Panch, Nveena Devi Sarpanch Upper Meer Panchayat, and local farmers were present on the occasion.
Jasvir Singh DDC Councillor said, “That the Horticulture Departmemt Udhampur is committed to ensuring that the Ultra High-Density-Apple Plantation scheme meant to boost apple production is implemented in such a manner that maximum orchardists get its benefit.”
While speaking on the occasion, the Additional District Development Commissioner said that udhampur district has a huge potential in the horticulture sector and all possible efforts are being made to boost this sector in the district for the betterment of the farmers.
The Chief Horticulture Officer Udhampur added that more land would be brought under the Ultra high-density apple plantation in future to promote the apple production in the Panchari Moungri. He directed the concerned officer and officials from the Horticulture Department to motivate the farmers to grow these plants in large numbers.
Revti Raman Sharma, District Level-SMS (Plant Pathology) Said, “That apple plants in ultra high density are more precocious, heavy yielders and produce better quality fruits and can play a significant role in improving the apple economy of Panchari- Moungri.”
