State President, Shri Ram Sena, Jammu and Kashmnir, Rajiv Mahajan today demanded New Delhi to immediately delink Jammu and Ladakh region from Kashmir to end discrimination with the citizens. “We have our own political, social and economical aspirations which cannot be met under the 70-year-old Kashmir dominated dispensation so we are ready to part ways from Kashmir and carve our separate State for Jammu,” Rajiv Mahajan claimed. He said separate Jammu State and Union Territory status of Ladakh region end the militant activities in the State. He slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for putting Jammu’s interests and development subservient to the pleasure of Kashmir based political party for remaining stuck to power. “The partnership of the ruling alliance parities san unity as a result of which they people of the State in general and the Jammu region in particular are suffering on account of development,” Rajiv Mahajan said in a press conference, here. He challenged the State BJP leadership particularly its ministers to list their achievements with regard to fulfilling the developmental needs of the Jammu region. “Despite being in power at the Centre and in the State the party failed miserably on governance front and let down Jammu on all fronts”, he said adding that the BJP has nothing to showcase as its achievement, least to fulfilling liberal promises during elections. Speaking on the progress of mega development projects being implemented in Jammu, Rajiv Mahajan said that all the projects are moving at snail’s pace be it expansion of Jammu Airport and extension of Runway, Multitier Parking and Commercial Complex proposed to be constructed at General Bus Stand Jammu, development of Tawi River Front, construction of protection works, water treatment plants, development of reclaimed land into recreational areas and development of tourist facilities along the banks of the River Tawi, sewage project for Jammu city, construction of Bikram Chowk Fly-Over, multi-level parking facility at City Chowk Jammu, construction of New Legislative Complex, construction of barrage on River Tawi, Jammu Ropeway Project from Peerkho to Bahu Fort, construction of Ring Road around Jammu, from Raya Morh at Nagrota Bypass, construction of new Medical Colleges in Jammu region, four-laning of Jammu-Akhnoor road, etc. He alleged under BJP leadership, people of jammu region discriminated in various sectors.
He said that the people of Jammu region who had pinned high hopes from BJP were feeling extremely disappointed over the highly timid approach of the Party towards the issues of Jammu region as well as the concerns of unemployed youth.
He said that the issues of New Recruitment Policy, state subject for west Pak Refugees, voting rights to them in Assembly and local bodies polls, State govt. jobs for such WPRs, issuance of Dogra certificate to Jammu youth, State Subject for children of daughters of J&K married outside, empowerment of Jammu, abolition of custodian Department and conferment of ownership rights to its occupants, gainful employment for educated unemployment youth, imposing of Service Tax on Helicopter fare in Vaishno Devi Shrine, distribution of Assistance Professors seats in Kashmir (74) and Jammu (26), PG Seats in Kashmir (57) and in Jammu (13), imposing of toll tax on locals in Ban Nagrota, settlement of Rohangyas and Bangladeshis in Jammu etc only pertained to the violation of the people of Jammu region which were incorporated in the BJP’s Elections manifesto before ascending to power.
