Distribution of PDS Ration through Biometric a bogus idea amidst Covid-19: Mula Ram, Chib

JAMMU, Oct 17: Amidst Coronavirus pandemic when number of positive cases and deaths due are on rise; the government is hell bent to implement diverse laws and regulations on people knowing that the suffering people could not publicly oppose.

This was stated by Former Minister Mula Ram and DCC Rural President Hari Singh Chib in a joint statement issued today against the distribution of PDS Ration through Biometric.

“People have already faced the wrath of unprecedented Covid-19 crisis, besides mere healthcare facilities are being provided by the government and upon this the government is implementing ration distribution through biometric, ” the joint statement read.

“People including youth are already facing severe problems due to job losses, unemployment, flash floods and other uncountable issues,” Mula Ram said and added that the BJP led government has always imposed anti-people policies and laws and forced people to adopt such rules and laws. He said that in the times when the whole world is hit by a pandemic and the same was mismanaged by the BJP led government in India; laws like farm bills, property tax were implemented amidst the pandemic. “BJP is known for anti-national policies and laws,” he added.

Hari Singh Chib said that despite resisting and protesting against the anti-people policies by the BJP led government; these rules were forcibly imposed on the masses. Chib said that instead of imposing new laws and policies, the government should mend the damaged economy, worst healthcare system, create jobs for unemployed youth, nurture education system, lower down crime rate in J&K UT.

Amidst Covid-19 scare, the distribution of PDS Ration through Biometric would cause chaos among the masses and could lead to a spike in the number of patients. “Government must wait till the pandemic is over to bring on such policies.”

The senior Congress leaders appealed to the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to put on hold such policies for some time till the Covid-19 pandemic is over and the economy gains some strength.
