PULWAMA, APR 16: Continuing its efforts to realize the vision of ‘Gram Swaraj’, the District Administration Pulwama today carried out several activities across the district which aimed to uplift the socio-economic condition of the people at gram Panchayat level.
These activities are being carried out as part of ongoing Gram Swaraj Abhiyan launched to empower the PRIs so that they become the active participants of rural development.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary said that several activities are being conducted as per the schedule of Iconic Week devised under ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ programme.
Choudhary said that Aspirational Block Development Programme (ABDP) has been rolled out with an aim to ensure expeditious improvement in the socio-economic status of these aspirational blocks and the programme is aimed at achieving holistic development of the blocks selected as Aspirational Blocks.
He further added that various initiatives are being taken to mobilize and strengthen the Panchayat resources so that they are empowered enough to become self-reliant (Atma Nirbhar).
The DC directed departments to achieve 100 percent saturation of individual beneficiary schemes, besides, covering the scope of other welfare schemes of different departments.
He also said Gram Swaraj Month is an initiative of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir where government functionaries reach out to the people, interact with them, and obtain feedback from them.
He said the Government has established a free fair and corruption free system, and every individual is free to meet district administration regarding any grievance.
The DC said the ongoing Gram Swaraj Month is meant for empowerment of Panchayats and various institutions working on panchayat level and urged people to enthusiastically participate in Gram Sabhas for plan formulations.
He also urged them to play a proactive role in making the governance more transparent and accountable to the citizens.
DDC Member Achgoza, Mansha Jan; BDC Chairperson Achgoza, Rubeena Banoo; PRIs, Additional District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Dr Sheikh Abdul Aziz besides all line departments and general public attended the Panchayat Level Gram Sabhas.
