    DMRRR launches project to aware students of hygiene issues

    JAMMU, Feb 14: TERI and Bharti Infratel Limited, with support from Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR) launched a pilot project called “FLOW” in two districts of J&K. The project aims at building capacities of school children and youth on “Water and Sanitation Hygiene” (WaSH) issues and aims to provide access to safe drinking water to targeted schools by installing infrastructure. An awareness workshop was conducted in five identified schools in Jammu, for making the children aware about water quality and water testing, using portable water testing kit. The children were also made aware about benefits of safe drinking water and making judicious use of water, adequate hygiene and sanitation, which helps in reduction of diseases. The children were also sensitised about disasters preparedness measures, by Disaster Management Professionals of the Dept. The schools identified include Govt. Boys Senior Secondary School, Sri Ranbir Singh, Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi, Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Rehari, Hari Singh Senior Secondary School, Hari Market, Govt. Higher Secondary School, Paloura. The pilot project is also being implemented in Ranchi, Guwahati, Indore, Bhubaneswar, Srinagar and Panipat along with Jammu.
