LSamba, June 23: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) on Friday held protest demonstrations at Samba to press for restoration of the original quota of ration and kerosene oil to consumers. Protestors led by DPAP State General Secretary Vinod Mishra, District president Raghubir Singh, raised the pro-justice slogans. Raising party flags, the protestors said that the poor is becoming poorer day by day while price rise and unemployment are breaking records. “The authorities have cut down the monthly ration quota to consumers in J&K, supply of kerosene oil to consumers has disappeared, price hike and unemployment is breaking all records,” they said. Protestors demanded restoration of monthly ration quota to consumers and roll back of imposition of property tax and other “anti-people” decisions. They also demanded for the assessment of the damage in earthquake hit areas and adequate compensation to the victims of Chenab valley. On the instructions of its Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad, DPAP has held several rallies, protests and public outreach programmes in past weeks. Public outreach programmes, as per DPAP, are aimed at having first-hand accounts of public issues. During public interactions, DPAPleaders are giving patient hearing to public delegations and assuring them that they would use their good offices to get their grievances redressed.
