Fill-up all vacant posts of coaches & junior coaches in J&K: JKAP to Sports Council
Raqeeq Ahmed Khan questions failure of Sports Council to complete pending recruitment despite HC directions
Jammu, June 30: Seeking filling up of all vacant posts, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) today appealed the Government to complete the pending selection process of Junior Coaches in Jammu and Kashmir.
“There is no scope for our livelihood of the coaches who were interviewed but their selection process was not complete despite directions from the J&K High Court,” said J&K Apni Party, senior youth leader, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan.
Khan alleged that the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council has failed to fill-up pending vacant posts since 2014 in the Jammu and Kashmir which has led to the feeling of alienation among the candidates who have been waiting for the recruitment process to start.
During a press conference here, J&K Apni Party, senior youth leader, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan said that the Youth Sports Service Council of Jammu and Kashmir from 2014 till 2020 has failed to fill-up vacant posts of coaches. Instead of ensuring to encourage sports activities among youth, he said, this delaying tactics will discourage youth looking for their career despite playing at Union Territory, State level, inter-State level, national and international level.
He said that criteria should be fixed for the sportspersons for their selection as coaches or junior coaches who have played at different levels within Union Territory, interstate, national and international level.
He impressed on the Government to encourage sportsmanship among the youth to keep them away from the menace of drugs.
Khan said that “The J&K State Sports Council had advertised various posts for appointments in the year 2016. However, the recruitment process against these posts was initiated and was to complete by April 2018.”
The recruitment process hampered after the resignation of then-Secretary Sports of J&K State Sports Council. Unfortunately, the file on which the recruitment procedure was carried has also not been traced after the change of Government, he alleged.
The J&K Apni Party, senior youth leader, said that the J&K Sports Council issued a notification to fill up the vacant posts through a notification on August 24, 2016, for the posts of Junior Coaches for which the interviews were also conducted in January 2017. However, the result was never declared despite that the fact were only 17 eligible candidates against 48 posts of the Junior Coaches.
“The aggrieved applicants moved to the High Court seeking directions to complete the process of selection within a period of four months from the stage of interview onwards. The J&K Sports Council admitted before the High Court that record of the interview has been lost,” he said.
He further said that the Crime Branch has also registered an FIR in the case of a missing file. “On August 24, 2019, J&K Sports Council published a notification vide number SO/662-IV/2475-84 to conduct interviews on August 20, 2019, at Srinagar on July 31, 2019 and August 2, 2019.
On July 30th, 2019, he said, the J&K Sports Council announced that the interview was postponed due to preoccupation of the Chairman of the interview committee i.e. Director Youth Services and Sports.
He expressed shock as to how the Council has failed to conduct already scheduled interviews. “They have shown no intention to complete the selection process as directed by the J&K High Court,” he said.
