Four accused arrested with weapons by Jammu Police. Major untoward incident averted
Jammu Police has made major weapons recovery in the jurisdictions of PS RS Pura & PS Gandhinagar and averted an untoward incident.
Giving details SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli IPS said that several nakas were laid by police teams of PS RS Pura constituted under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Surinder Singh. The team led by SHO PS RS Pura Inspr Jai Pal Sharma during naka checking at Chakrohi naka rounded up a suspect namely Sumit Gondhi @Kalu S/o Om Parkash Gondhi R/o Mohalla Peer Mitha Tehsil and district Jammu. During search, a Desi katta(pistol) along with 2 live rounds were recovered from him. Similarly at another naka at Baspur police teams rounded up another suspect namely Pritam Singh @sethi S/o Mohan Singh R/o Jerda Tehsil Ramgarh District Samba. During search, a pistol was recovered from him. The recoveries were made under the overall supervision of SP Hqrs Ramnish Gupta.
Soon after the incident two different cases i.e Case FIR No 40/2022 U/S 3/25 A Act and Case FIR No 42 /2022 U/S 3/25 A Act respectively were lodged at Police station RS Pura and investigation was set into motion.
SSP Jammu further said that during further questioning of the accused namely Sumit Gondhi @Kalu S/o Om Parkash Gondhi R/o Mohalla Peer Mitha Tehsil and district Jammu, he revealed about his other accomplices in Gandhi Nagar area of Jammu District.
He further added that on this special police teams of PS Gandhinagar under the supervision of SDPO South Sachit Sharma were constituted. The teams led by SHO PS Gandhi Nagar Inspr Pankaj Sharma did strenuous efforts with the help of various inputs finally rounded up two accused namely
1) Vivek Sharma@ Pinu S/o Ram Rattan R/o Peermitha Jammu
2) Rocky Kumar @Billa S/o Ashok Kumar R/o Gagian Teh RS Pura Jammu. During search, 2 pistols and 13 live rounds i.e 1 pistol and 7 live rounds from Vivek Kumar and 1 pistol and 6 live rounds from Rocky Kumar, were recovered from them. Recoveries were made under the overall supervision of SP South Mamta Sharma.
In this regard, case FIR No. 62/2022 U/S 3/25 Arms Act got registered at PS Gandhinagar and accused got arrested.
Further investigation of the cases is going on and more arrests are likely to be made
