Lays foundation of culvert at Raari, Ramgarh
SAMBA, DECEMBER : Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga today launched a massive cleanliness drive as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan organized by Municipal Committee, Vijaypur.
Among others, MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma, officers of Urban Local Bodies, beside members of civil society and large number of people participated in the drive.
On the occasion, the Minister administered oath to the people present and urged them to partake in this cleanliness drive and join hands with the government in making the area clean.
Addressing the gathering, Ganga said cleanliness isn’t just limited to keeping our environment clean only but encompasses physical, mental and spiritual purity. He urged everyone to join hands in making J&K the cleanest state of the country.
Ganga said key objectives of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan include improving the quality of life in rural areas through promoting cleanliness and eliminating open defecation, encouraging appropriate technologies for sustainable sanitation and developing community managed solid and liquid waste management systems.
The Minister said that all stakeholders have to play their role in keeping the environment clean and green adding that proper sensitization about the issue and collective social responsibility is vital for success of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.
Later, the Minister laid foundation stone for construction of Culvert at Raari in Ramgarh Block.
The construction work will be executed by Rural Development Department at an estimated cost of Rs 4 lakh under 13th FC award.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that government is fully aware of the problems of rural hamlets and measures are underway to overcome the same so that the people get requisite facilities at their doorstep.
Ganga informed that government is committed on taking up tangible works like construction of pacca-path, foot bridges, plantation, tractor roads, water harvesting tanks, irrigation canals, link roads, culverts and bridges.
He impressed upon the officers to implement flagship programmes like IAY, MGNREGA, IWMP in letter and spirit and ensure that the benefits of these programme reach all beneficiaries. He also stressed upon the officers to speed up the work on projects which have been taken up during the current fiscal, so that they can be completed within the stipulated time.
