    Govt aiming to improve rural connectivity: Lal Singh

    KATHUA, DECEMBER 16: In order to provide better road connectivity to the people living in rural areas, Minister for Forest, Ecology & Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh today kick-started black topping of link road from Nagrota to Plassi.

    Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the government is committed to provide better road connectivity to the people of rural areas especially those residing in far off places. He said that after blacktopping of this road, connectivity to villages Plassi, Kanow, Pretha, Thana and Dabooth will receive a fillip which will improve the living conditions of the villagers.

    He further said that Government has focused its attention on developing locations having tourist potential to increase tourist footfall which can generate employment and boost the socio- economic conditions of the locals. Development works amounting Rs 250 crore are being undertaken in Basohli constituency to make it a model constituency, the Minister said.

    The villagers apprised the Minister of various demands which include renovation and construction of ponds, repair of Basohli-Mahanpur road, repair of hand pumps, and new water supply scheme for the areas having no PHE supply. The Minister listened to the grievances of the people and issued on-spot instructions to the concerned officers for early redress of the same.

    Mr Singh said it is the endeavor of the Government to provide all basic facilities to the people on priority basis, adding that a well-conceived programme has been devised to address all issues in a phased manner. He said provision for better healthcare, education, PHE and road connectivity are the priority sectors of the Government, adding that Government is paying focused attention to upgrade the public facilities.

    The Minister sought people’s cooperation in implementing all Government schemes so that benefits of such schemes reach the needy. He asked them to maintain close liaison with the administration and project their demands in most legitimate way. He directed the officers to speed up the pace of ongoing development works and complete the projects within stipulated time frame. He also emphasized the need for making judicious use of funds.

    SDM Basohli Dherinder Sharma, Additional Director FPF, Anand Swaroop, DFO Wildlife, Priyanka Sareen, DFO Basohli, Vijay Verma, Deputy Director FPF, Vijay Kumar, XEN PWD, Suman Bhaskar, TSO, EO Municipal Committee and Tehsil Level officers were present on the occasion.
