Minister distributes cheques worth Rs 3.18 crore
BARAMULLA, DECEMBER 15: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari, today said the Government is committed to protect the rights of labour class.
The Minister stated this at an awareness camp organized by the Labour Department at Baramulla. He said the coalition Government headed by Ms Mehbooba Mufti will leave no stone unturned for the welfare of the working class and in implementation of various Central and State sponsored welfare schemes for them.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash, Chief Executive Officer, ADC, SSP, Assistant Labour Commissioner, NHPC representatives of construction and building workers of various unions were present on the occasion.
While terming manual workers as the backbone for the development of State, Bukhari said that every possible step will be taken for their welfare. He also said that registration cards for the construction and building workers are being provided free of cost.
He directed the officers of the Department to work in synergy and enthusiasm so that each and every worker of the State may receive the benefits of various welfare schemes of the Government.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that labour class plays a pivotal role in the overall development of the society. He said the district administration will provide every possible help for the betterment of the working class.
Earlier, Assistant Labour Commissioner while briefing the Minister said that 33000 building and construction workers are registered with the Department. He said support worth Rs 1.61 crore as educational assistance, Rs 1.25 crore as marriage assistance and Rs 1.22 crore as chronic disease assistance have been provided to the workers during the current fiscal
