Srinagar, July 12: Thousands of people on Wednesday participated in the funeral prayers of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant Aaquib Gul who was killed in a gunfight with government forces in Magam area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Gul was laid to rest amid pro-freedom slogans at his ancestral graveyard in Goripora area of Hyderpora in Srinagar.
Women wailed and beat their chest as the body of Gul reached his home on Wednesday morning.
Gul was killed along with two associates in a night-long gunfight with forces in Radbugh village of Budgam district.
Clashes erupted between youth and forces on the Airport road after Gul was laid to rest.
Youth hurled rocks on police and paramilitary forces who responded by lobbing teargas shells.
