    Human Rights Lawyer Syed Mujtaba took a session on “Rights in the time of COVID-19”.

    Jammu 19 Jun……. One Hour long session on Human Rights, Protection of Child Rights Amid Covid 19 was held by Syed Mujtaba, with Legal Desire media and insights interns from different states of India on 17th of June 2020.
    The webinar was about to discuss Human Rights and Child Rights where inaugural address was from Anuj Kumar, Founder Legal Desire and Apoorva as moderator,
    Human rights lawyer Syed Mujtaba highlighted some insightful points and experiences about Human Rights and being a Child Rights activist.
     He talked about two types of child, i.e. Child in Conflict with the law and  Child in need of care and protection under JJ Act.
     Emphasizing on the emotional health of a child while reassuring them that they are safe, he Focused that it is important to Explore alternatives and form creative solutions to protect and safeguard children in the times of pandemic. A few remedies were suggested by him for children in conflict with law like, Rehabilitation,  Reintegration etc.
    The second part of the discussion was about Human Rights where he explained the difference between fundamental rights and human rights. He later went on to talk about the rights available to prisoners as well as woman and children.
      He also compared it with current scenario of lockdown and how this lockdown has led to an increase in number of cases of violation of human rights along with the rights of children. He also talked about the responsibility of government in order to maintain a balance between barriers (to human rights) and human rights protection.
    Responding to a question from an intern, Syed Mujtaba said  that in times of present crisis, right to free screening, testing and protection of the most vulnerable section  also emerge among   legitimate human rights.
    The session was very insightful and many points were put forward that led to a discussion between the interns and child Rights lawyer Syed Mujtaba.
