Monitoring Desk,22-Nov; Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that there is immense scope to boost defence cooperation between India and Cambodia.
Singh said this while holding a meeting with Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, General Samdech Pichey Sena TEA Banh in Siem Reap yesterday.
In a tweet, Mr Singh informed that during the meeting both countries also reviewed the full range of India-Cambodia defence ties. Both the leaders have also recognised Angkor Wat, an ancient temple complex in Cambodia, as the symbol of the long-lasting ties between the two countries.
The Defence Minister arrived in Siem Reap, Cambodia yesterday to co-chair the maiden India-ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting and attend the 9th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM Plus).
Today, India and Cambodia will co-chair the maiden India-ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting. The meeting will be presided over by Rajnath Singh. Various initiatives to boost India-ASEAN partnership are planned to be announced during the meeting.
India and Cambodia are also celebrating 70 years of diplomatic relations this year.
