Govt should reduce probation period to 2 years: Raqeeq Ahmed Khan

Jammu, June 25: Seeking regularization of Rehbar-e-Khel physical teachers in Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) today staged a unique protest demonstration selling their medals for Rs 2 and Rs 5 to express resentment towards the discriminatory policy where they have to complete 7 years in probation.

Led by J&K Apni Party, senior youth leader, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan, the protesters assembled at the exhibition ground near Jammu’s Press Club, the physical teachers staged a symbolic protest demonstration in support of their demands.

The protesters were demanding reeducation period probation period from seven years to two years and regularization of those who have already completed two years in service across Jammu and Kashmir.

They said that the physical teachers appointed under this policy of Rehber-e-Khel should be given honourable salaries per month to Rs 70, 000 because many of them are national and international players who have contributed to the nation within and abroad.

“We were compelled by the Government for not lending any helping hands to the Rehbar-e-Khel in Jammu and Kashmir who are getting Rs 100 per day to respond to their service to the nation,” JKAP, senior youth leader, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan said, speaking on the occasion.

Raqeeq Ahmed Khan said that they will sell these models and trophies for Rs 2 and Rs 5 to protect the Government policy which is delaying the regularization of the Rehbar-e-Khel in J&K.

“These people are living miserable lives. It is a humanitarian crisis for them and the Government should address their concerns accordingly by regularizing them and giving them honourable salaries,” he demanded.

Expressing concern, Khan said that the Government has set-up a committee under chairmanship of Chief Secretary, BVR Subrahmanyam to examine engagement of Rehbar-e-Khel in the month of February, 2020.

He said that the committee has also failed to submit its report suggesting measures to redress demands of the physical teachers appointed under this policy in primary, middle and high schools across Jammu and Kashmir.

Anuj Manhas student leader Apni party said that “We will intensify the agitation across the J&K if the Government did not accept the demands of these physical teachers who are highly qualified and played at national and international level,” he warned.
