    JK Congress expresses grave concern over covid-19 situation handling in the country, loss of lives

    Jammu, April 23: JKPCC President G A Mir today chaired a meeting of senior leaders to discuss the current covid-19 situation in Jammu and Kashmir as the covid-19 crisis has badly hit the country with people dying due to oxygen shortage.

    The meeting expressed grave concern over its handling of the situation by the centre govt which has failed to visualise the magnitude of the covid-II and also took stock of the facilities in Jammu and Kashmir.

    The meeting also discussed the manner and management of the function to celebrate the National Panchyat Raj Day tomorrow in view of the 28th anniversary of the implementation of the 73rd and 74th amendment of the constitution in the country.

    The meeting was also attended by Vice Presidents and former ministers Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla, besides General secretary Yogesh Sawhney and Manmohan Singh , DCC President Rural Th Hari Singh Chib apart from Corporators and DCC representatives/Block Presidents .

    The meeting expressed grave concern over the very alarming situation in the country and the loss of precious lives due to lack of oxygen and shortage of medicines when the same were exported to other countries at the cost of lives of citizens which is very unfortunate and highly irresponsible act of the Modi government.

    The meeting described the current situation in the country as very alarming and people dying due to utter failure of the centre govt as even basic necessity of oxygen is not made available to the hospitals to meet the urgency while the government exported the same and the vaccine to other countries during the period .

    The Modi government and BJP were contesting the assembly elections on war footing while the situation took a very serious and ugly turn and today the country is number one in terms of cases in the world with lack of basic necessity for dealing the pandemic .

    The meeting also discussed the current situation and growing challenges of the covid in Jammu and Kashmir and urged the government to step up vaccination drive and the necessary arrangements and facilities in the different hospitals on war footing.

    The current quantum of vaccinations in Jammu and Kashmir is too low to nearly over 13 lacs in the population of over 1.30 crores and the UT administration should make all arrangements to deal with the future situation on this front, as already acute shortage of the oxygen was witnessed in the premier Jammu hospitals besides other lack of required facilities. Causing loss of several precious lives.

    After lapse of one year of the current pandemic, it is expected that there should not be any shortcomings in the necessary arrangements and facilities to face the challenge but still there are reports of shortage of beds and the days to come may be very difficult to the people.The government should do everything possible to provide the required facilities to the people in Jammu and Kashmir itself.

    The meeting appealed to the people to fully follow the guidelines and health advisories to check the spread of the fatal disease and co-operate with the local administration to deal with the situation , however asked the authorities to take the stake holders into confidence for devising effective mechanism and ensuring implementation of the decisions.

    The meeting also took stock of the ongoing strike ( chakka jam) by the transporters causing great hardships to the common people. The government must immediately resolve the issue and restore transport facilities for the people in the current situation.

    The meeting also discussed the holding of simple ceremony in Jammu and elsewhere tomorrow to celebrate the National Panchyat Raj Day , as the historical intiative of the former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi for establishing three tiers panchayat raj system through 73rd and 74th amendment was implemented by the Congress government on 24th April, 1993 in the country.
