Life was affected in Kashmir today due to a shutdown called by the resistance leadership against the killing of three civilians in Chadoora area of Budgam district yesterday.
All shops and other business establishments remained closed in Lal Chowk city centre while public transport remained off the roads.
Reports of shutdown were also received from other towns and district headquarters of the valley.
All shops remained closed in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Shutdonw continued for the third consecutive day in Pulwama district to mourn the death of two militants in an encounter with forces at Padgampora on Sunday.
Three civilians were shot dead by forces after they opened fire to disperse protesters who had gathered near the site of an encounter in Durbugh village of Chadoora.
Complete shutdown has been reported from Chadoora, Nagam, Budgam, Beerwah, Aripanthan, Khag and Khansahab towns of the Budgam district, reports said adding that people were seen thronging the houses of three victims.
