    Labour Deptt sensitizes laborers about Govt’s welfare schemes

    REASI, MARCH 11: To sensitize the labourer community on different legislations safeguarding their rights and welfare schemes of Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Labour Department organized one day awareness camp at Jyotipuram, here today.
    The camp was attended by laborers of NHPC Jyotipuram, Gref, Bhartiya Mazdoor Sang, Indian National Trade Union Congress and local labour representatives including local people and women.
    The stake holders were educated regarding their rights as enshrined in various legislations like Minimum Wages Act, Payment of Wages, Bonus Act, Equal Remuneration Act, Employees Compensation Act and other welfare measures formulated by the Board for the welfare of laborers community from time to time.
    In the day long camp, detailed presentations were also made by the experts and resource persons of the department regarding multifaceted assistances being provided to the registered laborers for education, health, marriage and also in the case of mishaps, disability/deaths.
    While speaking, Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Aamir Choudhary asked the labourers to reap maximum benefits out of schemes in vogue and impressed upon them to register themselves with the department through formats which were supplied to them on the spot.
    Besides, they were further sensitized on the evils of child labour and measures to be adopted for eradicating this practice from the society under which innocent children are exploited
    While giving detail on the achievements of the department, ALC further informed that in the current financial year, the department has settled over 350 cases of marriage and education assistance in additional to the cases of deaths, disability/chronic illness.
    Other who spoke on the occasion included Labour Officer Raman Kumar Sharma, DEO Sandeep Raina, President Un-organized Construction and other Workers Union M.R. Salalia, President Bhawan Nirman Mazdoor Sang Dev Prakash and representatives of labourer organizations.
