RAMBAN, MARCH 31 – A team of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) conducted extensive market checking at Batote, Chanderkote, Ramban and Banihal and booked 17 traders for violation of Legal Metrology Act.
The team imposed a fine of Rs. 42000 on the defaulter traders.
The department directed all the traders to use only verified weights and measures for business transactions and display MRP, PKD, Net Contents and complete address and Consumer Care Number on the commodities to be sold in package form.
The team further warned the unscrupulous traders to desist away from using unfair trade practices and appealed the consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing the commodities.
Meanwhile, the department booked a prominent private school at Champa Batote for violation of provisions of Legal Metrology Act and rules.
