Manjit Singh urges LG to frame policy for regularization for daily wagers
Seeks equal pay for equal work, implementation of minimum wage act in J&K
JAMMU, Sept 26: Apni Party today urged Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to frame policy for the regularization of the daily wagers/contractual labourers working in different Govt. Departments of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The Govt should frame policy for the regularization of the daily wagers working, contractual labourers, ITI Trained, CP workers, Rehber-e-Khel, Rehbar-e-Zirat and others who have completed mandatory periods of service in different Govt departments. Many of them have been serving for over 15 years,” said Manjit Singh, Provincial President and Former Minister.
While speaking at Seri Panditan in Bhalwal Block, Manjit Singh said that “They are living a miserable life in view of increasing price of essential commodities. It is not possible for them even to pay the school fee of their children though they do equal work like permanent employees of the Govt.”
The Former Minister was accompanied by Apni Party leaders including Ex-MLA Faqir Nath, Bodh Raj Bhagat, Sohan Singh Soni, Gourav Kapoor, Sardeesh Rana, Aijaz Kazmi and others. On this occasion, over 20 youth joined the Apni Party.
He said that the Govt should give equal pay to them and also implement a minimum wage act in J&K to benefit such daily wagers, contractual labourers, ITI Trained and others engaged in different Govt. Departments.
The Apni Party, he said, stands with the daily wagers and extends full support to their demands for release of wages and regularization.
He sought intervention of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha while accusing the bureaucracy for misleading the Govt regarding regularization of these workers and labourers.
“The matter should be considered on basis priority because on humanitarian ground to address the long pending demands of the daily wagers,” said Manjit Singh.
Meanwhile, he extended support to the PHE Daily Wagers who have decided to go on 72 hours strike in support of their demand. He appealed to the Govt to fulfill their pending demands.
