MAYOR, DEPUTY MAYOR INAUGURATES VARIOUS GREEN SPACES
Continuing the drive to provide better development & Civic amenities to the people of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor, Advocate Purnima Sharma Deputy Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation today on 03/07/2020 inaugurated the development of Green Spaces at park on both sides of different trained nallahas/irrigation canal at Gangyal area of ward no.56 in presence of Sh Baldev Singh Billowaria, Chairman Health & Sanitation Standing Committee, JMC (also Councillor of Ward No: 56), Sh. Arun Khanna Councilor of ward no: 25, Sh. Harbans Singh Choudhary EX Mandal President Gangyal, Sh Ranjeet Singh , Sh. Surjeet Kumar, Sh Rakesh Sangral, Sh Jyoti Parkash Sharma, Sh Bhanu Partap Singh, Sh Pritam Sharma, Sh Balwan Singh Prominent leaders of BJP, Some residents of Gangyal area as well as Sh Arun Gupta Executive Engineer , Sh Anil Gupta , Assistant Executive Engineer concerned Junior Engineer & other field staff of JMC were also present during the inauguration function. Mayor told that this was the long pending demands of the inhabitants of the locality as there was no other park in the nearby locality for the facility of the locals especially childrens and old aged persons. Now their demands in this regard has been fulfilled with an estimate cost of Rs. 3.97 crore. Jammu Municipal Corporation has thrown open the park / Green spaces for the General Public which was delayed only due to coronavirus lockdown. In the vicinity of this Park, it has beautiful play stations for children, suitable Benches for sitting purpose, green plants along both sides of Park, walkway having 8 ft breadth in between the park as well as other facilities for the general public. Moreover automatic LED Lights has also been installed in the said park by the Jammu Municipal Corporation for providing proper lighting system for the visitors to avoid any type of mishappenings prevailing due to darkness .
Mayor further stated that cities have become like concrete jungles nowadays. Therefore to provide a respite to the inhabitants from scorching heat & vehicular pollution and to provide clean & fresh air to breathe, especially for children who get a proper playing space & get to interact socially with other children so that they can grow up to become a responsible, patriotic and kind citizens of the country. He further added that Senior Citizens of the surrounding localities can utilize the green spaces for regular interaction with their counterparts in addition to go for long walks so that they can still contribute a lot to the society even after retirement. He further told that Jammu Municipal Corporation in collaboration with other departments is committed for developing more & more green spaces in different wards of Jammu City to provide eco-friendly atmosphere in the localities and appeal to the general public to come forward and co-operate with the Jammu Municipal Corporation in various other development activities being undertaken by the department.
