    MAYOR DISTRIBUTES DUSTBINS & KICK STARTSDEVELOPMENT WORKS IN WARD NO: 33

    With a view to maintain better sanitation and hygiene in the Jammu city and also to stop disposal of garbage & other waste articles on public Lanes / Roads, Chander Mohan Gupta mayor alongwith Sh Suraj Parkash Padha Chairman Swatch Bharat Standing Committee Jammu Municipal Corporation and Sh. Surinder Choudhary Councillor of Ward No: 29 today 30.09.2020 distributed about 150 number of dustbins to the shopkeepers of Shiv Nagar & its adjoining areas of ward no: 33. Sh. Prem Raj & Sardar Hardeep Singh I/c Sanitation Officers, other Supervisory Staff of Health Section & Swatch Bharat were also present during the function which was organized in a simple manner. Mayor appealed to the owners of shopkeepers and other Business establishment owners to handover the waste only to the designated vehicles / Autos which have been kept exclusively for this purpose. He also made people aware of the fine & penalties to be imposed on defaulters and violators as per Solid Waste management Bye Laws for littering & open dumping of garbage including (C&D) Waste etc. Shopkeepers and locals of the ward assured that they shall provide full cooperation to JMC for maintaining Sanitation upto the satisfactory level.

    Later Mayor alongwith Sh. Surinder Choudhary Councillor of ward No: 29 also kick started construction / renovation work of in terms of laying of tiles and other allied works at lane no: 6 Upper Shiv Nagar, Jammu of ward No: 33. Sh. Vijay Kumar Assistant Executive Engineer, Sh. S.K. Bhatt Junior engineer of Division – II, concerned contractor, Sh. Sat Pal Khajuria, Sh. Balvinder Kumar & other Prominent inhabitants of the ward were also remained present during the tour.

    Mayor said that this was the long pending demands of the locals which has got delayed only due to lockdown and shortage of manpower & construction material. He further said that this lane is a thorough fare and inhabitants especially school going children and Senior Citizens were facing great hardships while passing through this lane, the work of which has now been started with an estimate cost of Rs. 2.50 lakh only. He directed the concerned engineering Section to complete this work within a stipulated time frame and with best quality & durable material and upto the satisfaction of locals. He also appeal to the general public to come forward & co-operate with JMC in all the development activities being started by the department in making Jammu really a Smart City.
