MAYOR KICK STARTS DEVELOPMENT WORKS AT SHIV NAGAR
Continuing his drive to provide better development & civic amenities to the citizens of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation today on 17/07/2020 conducted an extensive tour in the different areas of Shiv Nagar of ward no.33 and kick started the construction work of deep drain near M/s Choudhary Milk Diary at Lower Shiv Nagar of the said ward. Smt kamla Gupta , Sh krishan Verma , Sh Balwan Singh, Sh Ved Parkash Sharma , Sh Billu Ji, Sh Shanker singh , Sh Kiran Sharma and various other prominent inhabitants of ward no.33 alongwith Sh Arun Gupta Executive engineer, Sh Vjay Kumar Gupta Assistant Executive Engineer, Sh S.K Bhat Junior Engineer of Division-II & concerned contractor were also present during the tour of Mayor who told that this was the long pending demand of the locals of the area as due to this broken drain cow dung & other wastes of the milk dairies operating in the ward overflows on the lanes, causing unhygienic condition in the locality. Moreover inhabitants especially old persons & school going children were also facing great hardships while passing through the area. Mayor further said that this covered deep drain of about 400 ft length will be executed by the Engineering wing at the estimate cost of Rs 14.67 lacs only. He added that this work was delayed only due to shortage of labour & construction material during the period of lockdown as well as creation of new engineering divisions of JMC and shifting /joining of various engineering and allied staff from one division to another. He directed the concerned to expedite the said work and complete it within stipulated time period upto the satisfaction of locals with quality and durable construction material.
Later mayor alongwith Sh Kuldeep Singh Councilor of ward no.63 (Bantalab) Prominent inhabitants of Bantalab & its adjoining localities, Sh Ashwani Kumar Executive Engineer, Sh Deep Kumar Asstt. Executive Engineer, Sh Satish malla Junior engineer of division III also visited the different areas of the wards and took stock of the various development works in terms of construction of ward offices, installation of water coolers, development of water bodies, construction of left over drains & lanes of the ward, rectification of LED street lights and their installation in the remaining areas. Mayor was apprised by the concerned councilor that about seven numbers of old ponds have been identified for their demarcation, beautification and proper development at various localities of the ward. Mayor assured & directed the concerned engineering division to start the work of development of water bodies in phased manner & expedite the other development activities as put forth by the Hon’ble Councilor of the wards as this ward which is largely extended and appeal to the General Public to come forward and co-operate with the JMC in various development works in making Jammu neat, clean and green city.
