The Media XI Cricket Club outplayed Sher-E- Kashmir Cricket Club (SKCC) with boundary count after the game remained as leveled even after super Over in a thrilling friendly Twenty20 match played here at Phallain Mandal Cricket Ground on Saturday.
Opting bat first, after winning the toss SKCC posted what had looked like a taxing 146 runs target on board after a wonderful, half century from Manmohan Khajuria (54) whereas Anil 30 and Sumit 25 also contributed to the SKCC total.
For Media XI exceptional bowling spell from Ashu Mehra and Rahul Khatri sharing two wickets each with economical figures restricted the SKCC well under 150 who once were looking very fancy on the scoreboard. Yash Khajuria, Sunil Bali shared wicket apiece.
While chasing the target, Media XI had a decent start even after losing initial wicket as the stellar batting performance by Amit Sudan 50 off just 33 balls made SKCC bowlers helpless. But reckless running between the wickets by Media Xi batters coupled by the tight fielding by their opponent brought SKCC back into the match as they managed to drag it till the final over.
With 7 needed in just 6 balls in the final over Arun bowled really well to restrict Media Xi just before the line as the managed to level the score with a double in the last over. Ravi and Vinayak also contributed with 20 and 24 respectively in the total. Arun with his exceptional bowling that earned him 2 crucial wickets remained the pick of the bowler for SKCC who kept SKCC on the line with Media XI until the Super Over.
Media XI batted first in their Super Over and scored 10 runs with Amit Sudan made 6 runs of 3 balls laced with a boundary at square leg.
Manmohan Khajuria and Shalu then batted for the SKCC but sloppy fielding by Media Xi gifted four extras on very first ball, however Sunil Bali bowled with heart and made a comeback for media XI by eliminating Shalu on the 4th ball of the over. With SKCC needed 2 runs from the last ball direct hit from Yash Khajuria from long off ended up SKCC well before the line again. Later Media XI declared winner after boundary count.
