Members of Gorkha Samaj too are  respectable citizens now: Kavinder

Former Deputy Chief Minister, Jammu Kashmir, Kavinder Gupta, along with JMC Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta and  BJP Jammu District President Vinay Gupta,  distributed Domicile Certificates to members of Gorkha Samaj residing in Gorkha Nagar locality  of Gandhi Nagar Constituency in a programme held on Sunday.

The programme was organized by Karuna Chetri, BJP District Vice President & Gorkha Sabha President.

Kavinder Gupta,  said the recipients of the Domicile Certificates, included those sections of society who were residing in J&K for the last more than 70 years but were deprived of their legitimate citizenship rights.

Providing Domicile Certificates was a long-pending demand of the people who were living in Jammu and Kashmir for many years but were deprived of citizenship rights.  Now they have equal rights as other citizens of Jammu and Kashmir after getting Domicile Certificates.

Kavinder Gupta said that under the Domicile Rules, all those persons and their children who have resided for 15 years in Jammu and Kashmir or have studied for seven years and appeared in the Class X & Class XII examinations in J&K Board  are eligible for grant of this certificate.

Kavinder said that J&K’s Article 370 and Article 35A barred non-locals and outsiders from owing houses and jobs here as Domicile Certificate was mandatory for buying land, applying for jobs.

They included  people belonging to the downtrodden sections and Gorkha Samaj from Gorkha Nagar and several other parts of Jammu.

Many senior citizens also participated in the camp.

Later, Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta , while speaking on the occasion, said that with the distribution of Domicile Certificates the long pending demand of the public have been fulfilled.

Vinay Gupta said that finally justice has been done with people who were living in Jammu and Kashmir for decades but were deprived of citizenship rights and  now they have equal rights as other citizens.

The Gorkha Samaj thanked the BJP leaders for fulfilling their dream of being treated as respectable  citizens by issuing the domicile certificates. They said that their pain and problems were taken seriously by BJP, which culminated into showering honor on them in the form of Domicile Certificate.

Ankush Gupta, Narinder Koki, Neeraj Lucky Puri, Vivek Patyal, Subash Chander, Sunny Sangotra and other BJP activists  were present on the occasion.
