Srinagar, June 23: Hurriyat (M) chief and chief Kashmir cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday condemned the “brutal act” of lynching of a police officer outside Jamia Masjid in Srinagar – the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Deeply disturbed and condemn the brutal act at Nowhatta. Mob violence and public lynching is outside the parameters of our values and religion,” tweeted Mirwaiz.
“We can’t allow state brutality to snatch our humanity and values,” he added.
Muhammad Ayub Pandit was beaten to death by a mob outside the Jamia Masjid at around 2 am while the night-long prayers were going on inside the historic mosque.
