Mumbai: A Level-3 fire broke out in a slum at Lalmati, opposite Bandra Fire Station on Nagardas Road on Tuesday. Eight water tanks and nine fire tenders have reached the spot. Rescue operations are currently underway.
According to emerging reports, the blaze started at around 11:30 am in the slum behind Nargis Dutt Nagar. No reports of casualties have emerged so far.
Black and grey smoke billowing from the slums could be spotted from far away localities, say eyewitnesses.
In October 2017, a massive fire had engulfed the foot overbridge at the Bandra railway station during evening rush hour. The fire reportedly began in the nearby slum colony of Behrampada but quickly crossed over to the station – one of the busiest in the city.
