REASI, MARCH 11: Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Ajay Nanda today urged farming community across the Reasi district to take maximum benefit from the multifaceted welfare schemes and insurance covers being launched by the Government in Agriculture and allied sectors from time to time for their uplift.
The Minister said this while addressing a large farmers’ gathering after inaugurating the Mega Fruit Show cum Kisan Mela here today.
“All the schemes like Kissan Credit Card, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana will be extremely fruitful to the farmers if they are implemented in letter and spirit with the aid of field functionaries” the Minister asserted.
Ajay Nanda said people should come forward and make use of the latest technologies and tools to increase their production capacity and the quality of their produce adding that a lot of new innovations have taken place in the agriculture field that can contribute in improving the economic conditions of farmers in the state.
The Minister urged the people to take initiative and start their own ventures keeping in view the topographical conditions and sustainability in their areas, apart from agricultural activities so that the available potential is exploited to the fullest. He also appealed the people to get registered for reaping the benefits of all insurance covers under Fasal Bima Yojana.
The orchardists and fruit growers from various blocks interacted with the Minister and experts from the field of agriculture. The farmers were also provided expert advice regarding pathological and entomological problems of the fruit and other crops.
Earlier, the Minister along with scientists and experts inspected over 70 stalls of fruits, vegetables, pulses, agricultural tools, medicines, machinery, seeds etc which were set up by Horticulture, Agriculture, Floriculture, Apiculture, Fisheries, Mushroom development, organic farming etc. While inspecting, the Minister appreciated the efforts of various departments for showcasing local crops.
The Minister asked the officers to organize such shows and camps at Village level.
District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar, ADC Babu Ram and various other officers from agriculture, allied departments were present on the occasion.
