NPP Supremo urges PM Modi to call urgent meeting of reps. of J&K pol. parties
Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of J&K National Panthers Party and Executive Chairman of State Legal Aid Committee urged Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi to call an urgent meeting of the representatives of the recognized political parties active in Jammu & Kashmir so that the political process which at present is sinking shall survive and the political activists may be in a position to participate in active State political activities. He said that the present situation created by defacing Jammu & Kashmir State and literally banning political activities in Jammu & Kashmir has caused a grave damage to the political interest damaging the entire foundation of democracy which emerged in Jammu & Kashmir in 1939 when the then ruling Maharaja held elections for the district representatives in Jammu & Kashmir which constituted ‘Praja Sabha’ in Jammu & Kashmir.
It was Maharaja Hari Singh who had appointed Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah as the Prime Minister of Jammu & Kashmir in 1951 and the Constituent Assembly was founded in Jammu & Kashmir which framed the Constitution Jammu & Kashmir.
Prof. Bhim Singh said that High Court of Jammu & Kashmir was founded in 1928 empowering the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir to issue writ of Habeas Corpus and other writs. This power was vested in the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir was unknown in the history of India till Constitution of India was promulgated in 1950.
NPP Supremo expressed shock that that Jammu & Kashmir with its Constitutional powers and even geographical status has ceased to exist in free India when Jammu & Kashmir has formed integral part of India. He urged the Prime Minister to convene an urgent meeting of the representatives of the recognized political parties and ex-Legislators of Jammu & Kashmir to ensure their involvement in all political affairs of Jammu & Kashmir.
NPP Supremo expressed shock that State of Jammu & Kashmir which was founded in 1846 by Maharaja Gulab Singh and had its representatives in the Constituent Assembly of India also had ceased to be a State only because the BJP government at the Centre is trying to wreak vengeance against the people of India residing in Jammu & Kashmir.
Prof. Bhim Singh called on the Prime Minister to recommend to the President of India at the earliest for restoration of statehood of Jammu & Kashmir and extend all Fundamental Rights enshrined in Chapter-III of the Indian Constitution to the residents of Jammu & Kashmir without any delay. Holding fresh elections and freedom of political rights has to be restored without any delay.
The Indian residents in the North-
East and couple of other States have got special rights and privileges under Article 371 etc. He said that the Parliament of India has not annexed the Instrument of Accession with amendment because Maharaja of Jammu & Kashmir had retained three subjects, Defence, Foreign Affairs & Communications etc. with himself and that, Instrument of Accession, needs to be amended by the Parliament so that Jammu & Kashmir is brought under the cover of the Indian Constitution.
He hoped that the Prime Minister of India and the political parties in the country shall sit together take leadership of Jammu & Kashmir into confidence so that peace with all Fundamental Rights is restored in Jammu & Kashmir and the draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) which is unconstitutional law disappears from Jammu & Kashmir.
