Panchayat Ghar Birnoo building in shambles, authorities in deep slumber

Udhampur: Though the Govt has empowered the Panchayat Raj System in J&K and is being considered as an empowered administrative system at gross root level of rural areas. The Sarpanches and Panches have been doing a commendable job for last several years after Govt empowered them. But these institutions need proper accommodation to run the affairs of the villages. But in Panchayat Ghar Birnoo in Tehsil Ramnagar District Udhampur there is scarcity of the accommodation as no building at the disposal of the Sarpanch or Panches leading to hinder the important public related developmental works. It is strange that how the works will be executed smoothly when Sarpanch and panches will not meet  due to lack of official accommodation. The building has been turned into dilapidated condition after landslide hit it and despite the repeated appeals to the R&B department to remove the debris, the same could not be removed. The locals said that there is apprehension of collapsing the walls of the building any time. The Sarpanch of the village, Maya Devi, Angrej Singh Panch, Mohan Lal Panch and Charan Das, while giving information, said that the government  is least bothered towards the problem and have appealed LG to look into the matter.
