    PM Modi addresses Assam Rozgar Mela; Says, govt systems must transform themselves according to present times

    Monitoring Desk,26-May;Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, the government systems must transform itself according to the present time. He was addressing over 40 thousand new recruits to various Assam government departments through a video message at the appointment letters distribution programme in Guwahati yesterday.

    Union Home Minister Amit Shah distributed appointment letters to the new recruits at the Veterinary College Playground in Guwahati yesterday. The Prime Minister remarked that all of us have taken a pledge to make our country a developed nation in the Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal”.

    Speaking about the new infrastructure projects, the Prime Minister underlined that lakhs of crores of rupees are being spent on modernizing India’s infrastructure at a very fast pace. Citing the examples of highways, expressways, railway lines and ports, among others, the Prime Minister said that employment and self-employment opportunities are getting a boost in every sector with every new infrastructure project.

    Underlining the importance of the appointees’ behaviour, thinking, approach to work, and impact on the public, the Prime Minister emphasised that the new appointees will be the face of the Assam Government for every common citizen. He urged the youth and all the government departments to upgrade and transform themselves in tune with the demand of the time to provide good services to the citizens. He underlined the responsibilities of Government employees in fulfilling the aspirations of the citizens of the country.

    The Prime Minister urged the appointees to move forward with the same dedication that brought them here and stressed that they can contribute to improving society and the system by being open to learning new things.

    The Prime Minister appreciated the Assam Government for a large number of recruitments in a transparent and time-bound manner through the Assam Direct Recruitment Commission and congratulated all the new appointees. The Prime Minister informed that India is progressing rapidly in the infrastructure sector and every spending on this sector is providing ample employment for the youths.

    Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had emphasised the importance of integrating forensic sciences investigation with the criminal justice system to increase the conviction rate. He was addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of the National Forensic Sciences University, Guwahati Campus at Changsari virtually from Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra.

    The Union Minister said that it is an important day for Assam and the entire North Eastern states as students can now study forensic sciences in Guwahati. The NFSU is a specialised University in the entire world and it is a 100 per cent job-oriented course, added the Union Minister.

    The Union Home Minister said that unless the investigation is scientifically based on forensic science, the culprit cannot be punished in court.

    For this, it is very important that the officers of Forensic Science should visit the crime scene in all the crimes with a punishment of 6 years or more and the NFSU will increase the conviction ratio. Mr. Shah said that the country has been making strides in the field of forensic science and will have the largest number of forensic science experts in a few years. He also said that unless the investigation is recorded scientifically, you cannot punish any criminal and many times you cannot prove it at courts but forensic sciences can provide full proof evidence to punish a criminal.

    The Union Home Minister informed that it is the 10th NFSU campus in the country apart from the one in Uganda. This Guwahati campus will be beneficial for the entire South East Asian countries in the forensic sciences system.

    Students as well as officials from these countries can get training from this campus. He also started the temporary campus of the University at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. Mr. Shah also launched an Assam Police Seva Setu interactive App where citizens can get 26 types of services without visiting police stations including e-FIR.

    Speaking on the occasion, Assam Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the foundation stone laying of the NFSU is a red letter day for Assam and informed that his government will build this Campus as the centre of excellence in the entire country.

    This NFSU campus will boost up our process to make Assam the knowledge hub of the country. Mr. Sarma said that forensic sciences will increase the conviction rates and it will improve the law and order situation in the state as it will give irrefutable evidence.
