Poor coordination mars health care services in Jammu: Vikram Malhotra

JAMMU, Oct 12: Seeking review of covid care strategy to find out faults in preparation, Apni Party has condemned mismanagement and many controlling authorities leading to the poor coordination among the team involved in mitigation of covid-19 in Jammu division, particularly.
“Too many officials are involved in the mitigation of coronavirus situation and it has failed the sincere efforts of the Govt to fight the pandemic because of mudslinging and poor coordination in the administration, health authorities and other departments involved in it,” said Apni Party General Secretary Vikram Malhotra in a statement here.
Addressing a party leader meeting in which many youths have joined the Party, Malhotra said that better coordination is needed in hospitals of Jammu and GMC Jammu particularly at the time when covid-19 needs coordinated efforts to deal with the virus which has consumed so many lives.
Malhotra further said that the crumbling state of health sector has cost people in the districts especially and Jammu has become the victim of the situation with over-burdened GMC Jammu and hence, many people preferred treatment from Punjab and other states of the country.
“The referral hospitals have further helped the health sector to collapse at the time of covid-19 break out. The GMC Jammu was not able to provide ventilators to all the infected patients and the allegations on how the patients were not provided oxygen should be investigated,” said Vikram Malhotra.
Malhotra said that the J&K has one of the best health care systems but poor and mis-management has worsened the situation.
Malhotra said that a known hospital in Kakryal allegedly treated VVIPs of Jammu and Kashmir depriving common people from the health facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Apni Party’s Provincial President and Former Minister Manjit Singh said that the youth have developed hopes with the Apni Party especially in absence of an elected Govt.
The educated youth in the Jammu region have joined the Party in large numbers after being befooled by the hollow slogans and joblessness. “The people have concerns about their future in the present system of administration where officials are not listening to them,” he said.
Manjit Singh said that the administration has failed to mitigate the issues of the people especially youth and it has given rise to more problems.
“The elected Govt has responsibility because they have to face elections after every five years,” said Manjit Singh, adding that the absence of the elected Govt has led to hopelessness among the youth especially.
Many who have completed their studies are not able to find jobs as the private sector is also in a crunch because of covid situation. However, Jammu and Kashmir is facing downfall in every sector after the August 5, 2019 decision, he said.
The former minister appealed that the Govt has not been able to win over the confidence of the people and its failure is visible on the ground. He said that the main issue which people feel betrayed is snatching statehood and downgrading their State into a Union Territory.
