Srinagar, March 7: Plains of Kashmir Valley on Tuesday experienced intermittent rainfall while upper reaches experience fresh snow even as MeT Department predicted three days of widespread rains and snow in the region.
According to MeT Department here, light rainfall lashed Kashmir Valley since morning and continued throughout the day intermittently. Reports said fresh snowfall occurred in the higher reaches of Valley including Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Shopian, Jawahar Tunnel, Amarnath Cave and Sonamarg.
The MeT Department said widespread rain/snow would occur at many places over the state for next three days started from Wednesday. The day temperature in Srinagar was recorded 10.6 degree Celsius while Qazigund recorded 10.8 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature in Pahalgam was recorded 9.2 degree Celsius, 5.4 in Kupwara, 10.4 in Kokernag, 0.5 in Gulmarg, 5.2 in Leh and 2.4 in Kargil.
A Traffic Police official said the traffic on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway plied normally and there was no disruption. Reports said that parts of Pir Panjal also received light rainfall in the day
