NAGROTA, FEB 14: National Conference Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana on Tuesday congratulated Power-lifter Vikramjeet Singh for clinging bronze medal at an international championship, saying his feat will inspire youngsters to excel in sports,
“Vikramjeet Singh has not brought laurels to his native village of Koh-Polta in Block Dansal of Nagrota Assembly Constituency but made his home state of Jammu and Kashmir proud”, Mr Rana said while complimented the Power Weight Lifter.
Vikramjeet Singh is a Power-lifter from Jammu and Kashmir who has bagged bronze at Subarata Classic International Power-lifting Championship held at Jamshedpur between December 27-30. He lifted 615 kilograms in three lifts in 120 Bodyweight+ Category. The Championship was organized by the association sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and affiliated with the Indian Olympic Association and International Commonwealth and Asian Power-lifting Federation.
Rana hoped that this discipline of sport may inspire young sportspersons of the State to sharpen their talent and participate in the national level events. He complimented Mr Singh for his devotion and hard work which made him to excel in the game.
The MLA Nagrota said that Jammu and Kashmir has no dearth of talent but there is need for identifying and providing best available coaching to them so that they find their rightful place in the national and international events. He expressed happiness over youth from the state making their presence felt at the national level events.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included National Conference functionaries of the constituency besides Provincial youth National Conference President Mr Ajaz Jan and Provincial Vice President Choudhary Haroon.
