POONCH Nov 22: Congress General Secretary who recently quit the party & announced to contest against Congress candidate Ex – MLA Akram Choudhary will directly help BJP, though Akram is still strong and hopeful of winning the seat. Mohd Amir a local congress activist in Surankote said, Shanawaz is in direct contact with anti- congress parties including BJP, PDP & others.
Shahnawaz in a video message had blamed Congress for denial of ticket, but senior leaders in Congress say Akram is ex- MLA and has worked on ground while Shahnawaz is a parachute leader who has always lobbied with leaders for prime positions but has no acceptance on ground.
They say Shahnawaz has always been a rival of Akram Choudhary, even in last assembly elections Shahnawaz tried his best to ensure the defeat of Congress candidate but he won. A senior Congress leader said ‘Shahnawaz is an agent of BJP’. If a person is against the decision of high command & working against the party candidate how can he be a loyalist? Such people had used party positions for personal gains that’s why Congress faced defeats. He said as Shahnawaz has quit, such opportunists should never be entertained in the future.
They say he is denting the congress candidate it will only help BJP. But we are confident our candidate Akram Choudhary will win the DDC polls.
