Srinagar, May 2: Police arrested a lady for allegedly stabbing her would-be-husband in old Srinagar city on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the Dareshkadal Kakasaria area of Srinagar.
Police arrested the accused lady and said that one person Adil Ahmad Kaloo of Bemina Srinagar was stabbed with a knife by his fiancée Asifa Bashir of Parimpora in broad daylight in Chattabal. The injured is stable. The lady was engaged to the victim and ‘nikaah’ had also taken place.
Police said that an FIR vide number 57/2023 has been registered at police station Safakadal.
The family of the victim quoting their son said that he received a call from Asifa Bashir and went to meet her. “She sought lift from him and Adil went to drop her. Adil inquired after Asifa received a call from an unknown person. The argument between them turned ugly when the lady stabbed Adil in his abdomen.”
A video that is viral shows Adil seeking help after the attack and blood oozing out from the lower part of the body.
Passersby shifted the victim to a nearby SMHS hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.
Police have arrested the girl and a case under relevant sections of law registered against her.
The victim is the resident of Bemina and the accused lady hails from Parimpora area of Srinagar outskirts.
Reports said that the accused lady is a Facebook influencer running a page on social media and has even interviewed a number of politicians and bureaucrats. She claims to have received a National Women Achievers Award in Maharashtra. In one of the videos, she can be seen holding a rifle trying to take aim probably during an official training camp at some unknown location.
One of the relatives of the victim told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the accused was always carrying a ‘mike-logo’ with her and was running a FB page titled: ‘Kashmir Dastan News Network’.
The accused lady has over 50K followers on her FB page.
Of late with the advent of social media, dozens of persons mostly under-graduates with doubtful antecedents pose as Journalists and frequently visit the Press Enclave Srinagar known as Kashmir’s Journalism hub. [KNT]
