One of the major tourist attractions of Kashmir Valley and Asia’s largest Tulip Gardent will be thrown open for public on Saturday (April 1st).
Spread over 600 Kanals (38 acres) of land, as many as 5 lakh tulips are in full bloom in the Tulip garden,” Director Floriculture Muhammad Hussain Mir told CNS adding that season visitors will witness some new varieties of tulip that department has imported from European countries.
Situated in the foothills of Zabarwan hills and on the banks of Dal Lake, Tulip Garden according to Director Floriculture will remain open for the month of April. “The tulips are in full bloom and the garden presents an exquisite look. This season we have imported some varieties including Hyacinth on experimental basis. There are over all 48 varieties of Tulip. Other than tulips, Hyacinths, Narcissus and Daffodil flowers have also been planted in the garden to add variety. There will a 15 day’s musical festival organized by Cultural Academy while visitors can make purchases from multiple stalls erected inside the garden by JKTDC, Handicrafts Department and others. We have also arranged fast food and bereaveges for the visitors. It will be fun and hopefully the beauty will enchant and mesmerize every visitor,” Mir said.
Mir added that Secretary Tourism Farooq Ahmed Shah will throw the garden open for public at 12 of Saturday afternoon. “Tulip Garden may play a key role in tourism promotion this year. We are expecting that more than 3 lakh visitors this season,” he said and added that the entry for every adult is Rs 50 while for children above the age of five, it is Rs 20.
