The first ball of the One Day International between the Blackcaps and Sri Lanka will be bowled at 2pm today.
The Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui will host the first of two 50-over One Day Internationals, with the second being played on Saturday.
Veteran opener Martin Guptill says they’re looking forward to transferring their test performances into the one-day format.
“The test team, they’ve played some extremely exciting cricket in the last little while and the results have shown that – four series in a row they’ve won and hats off to them, they’ve played extremely well,” he told SunLive ahead of today’s game.
“They’ve found a way to score runs and perform under pressure so it’s been exciting watching.
“And we change to the one day format and it’s equally as exciting. We’ve got some hard-hitting batsmen with some experience to round off the top order, and then Jimmy Neesham comes back into the side and he’s been in good form as well, so it’s looking pretty exciting for these next few one-dayers.”
