Yogi should resign on moral grounds: Uday Chib
JAMMU, Oct 1: Dozens of Youth Congress Jammu and Kashmir protested the arrest of former party president Rahul Gandhi while he was on the way towards Hathras to meet the family of the rape victim.
The protest was organised by Youth Congress in presence of Harsimrit Kour, IYC Secretary and Incharge J&K and under the leadership of J&K PYC President, Uday Chib in which party activists raised slogans against UP Police and UP government for illegal and unconstitutional arrest of Rahul Gandhi.
Pertinent, Congress stalwart Rahul Gandhi was arrested after being stopped by the Uttar Pradesh Police near Greater Noida on Thursday along with his sister Priyanka Gandhi, as they were on their way to meet the family of a 20-year-old Dalit woman who was gangraped by four men.
Talking to reporters, Harsimrit Kour termed the arrest unconstitutional and barring the party leader to hold peaceful protest as undemocratic.
Kour said that UP Government on one hand reportedly denied justice to the gang rape victim who died couple of days back and other hand bars the people from holding peaceful protests.
“The victim was denied justice even after her death,” Kour said, demanding stern punishment to the accused in the gang rape and murder of 19 year Dalit girl who was raped, tortured and humiliated and left to die.
Uday Chib said that the UP government has failed to do justice with the teenage girl and to hide its bottlenecks is crushing the rising voices against it. He demanded the immediate resignation of UP CM Yogi Aditiyanth and lambasted his administration for failing to minimise rape accidents in UP.
